[Also in Division B2] A rotary spray device in a dishwashing machine comprises a hub 40 having inlet passage 54 leading into a number of flow passages 55 each fitted with a nozzle 70 including a fitting 60 which directs the flow of liquid, via a surface 65 on to a guiding wall 74 so as to discharge the liquid in a wide stream. The spray device is provided with six nozzles (Fig. 2), each diametrically opposite pair describing a different diameter circle so as to form three walls of liquid. The nozzles are secured in the hub by means of screws 68 thereby allowing them to be angled in order that a reaction-jet effect is produced to rotate the device. Two spray devices are mounted in the dishwashing machine above a conveyor (25) (Fig. 1) on which trays (26) of dishes are carried; the dishes pass through first and second cleansing chambers (12, 14) and finally into rinse chamber (16) in which clean hot water is supplied by a fixed nozzle (37). The hot rinsing water is controlled by a movable arm (38) sensing the presence of a rack beneath the nozzle.

    • 1,078,000. Copying by scanning. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. Oct. 6, 1964 [Oct. 14, 1963], No. 40805/64. Heading H4F. [Also in Divisions B3 and G3] An electron beam machining or welding apparatus 10 is scanned over a workpiece 12 in a television-type raster synchronously with the scanning of a control pattern 40 by a cathoderay tube flying-spot scanner 42 under the control of X and Y scan generators 54, 60, the beam in the apparatus normally being biased off and being released only when coincidence is detected in a detector 66 between a signal from a photoelectric cell 48 which responds to light from indicia in the pattern, and a pulse from an oscillator 62 which operates at a frequency differing only slightly from that of oscillator 52 driving the X-scan generator. By this means the beam may be released only once in each X scan and at a different position in succeeding scans, so as to avoid excessive local heating, the whole operation determined by the pattern being completed only after a plurality of complete raster scans. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), coincidence detector 66 is dispensed with and oscillator 62 is applied to pulse on the beam in flying spot scanner 42 which is arranged normally to be biased off. Reference is made (without giving details) to apparatus in which the working beam is a light beam originating from a laser.
