    • A pavement striping devices for heating and applying thermoplastic material to a road surface is provided. The pavement striping device includes of: a hopper for holding a supply of particulate thermoplastic marking material in a non-molten state, an air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle having a series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits within, a plastic extruder for transporting the thermoplastic particulate from the hopper to the series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits with the air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle, a heating mechanism for heating the air or oil-heat transfer medium melting kettle and the plastic extruder to a temperature suitable for melting thermoplastic, and a means for driving the stream of molten thermoplastic through the series of coaxial conveyored or unconveyored conduits to a sprayer or extrusion die, all of which form a means by which the molten thermoplastic is directed to the pavement surface.

    • A method of making and the resulting diatomite-modified pavement. The addition of small amounts (0.5 to 2%) diatomite by weight to conventional pavement mixes, serves to increase density, viscosity, aggregate interlock and temporarily volumetrically extends the asphalt improving compactability resulting in an emplaced pavement that has lower air and water permeability without increased instability. The improved strength of the mixed and abrasion resistance of the mastic enable the thickness of wearing course overlays to be reduced without detrimental effects of wear life. The addition of diatomite makes the pavement mix more forgiving of errors in asphalt and aggregate amounts and can result in significant reduction of cost/sq. yard of pavement.

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus for retreating waste asphalt concrete is provided to prevent environment pollution by retreating the waste asphalt concrete generated during repairing work of roads, thereby recycling the waste asphalt concrete and seeks economical gain by reducing raw material cost due to recycling. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus(10) comprises a waste asphalt concrete storage hopper(11) which is formed in a cylinder shape so that waste asphalt concrete collected from the site of road repairing work is stored in the waste asphalt concrete storage hopper, which has a gate(12) operated by electronic signal, and which discharges a certain amount of the waste asphalt concrete by weighing the waste asphalt concrete; a transfer conveyor(13) which is installed at the lower part of the waste asphalt concrete storage hopper to transfer the preheated waste asphalt concrete to one side by receiving the waste asphalt concrete weighed and discharged by the waste asphalt concrete storage hopper and preheating the waste asphalt concrete using air of a certain temperature; first heating mixer(18) for maintaining heat reserving of the waste asphalt concrete to a certain temperature using heating wire and heating the waste asphalt concrete to a certain temperature at the same time by receiving the waste asphalt concrete transferred by the first heating mixer; second heating mixer(19) installed at the lower part of the first heating mixer to heat the waste asphalt concrete to a certain temperature by receiving the waste asphalt concrete injected from the first heating mixer; and a mixer(40) installed at the lower part of the second heating mixer to mix 70 wt.% of waste asphalt concrete injected through the second heating mixer with 30 wt.% of high quality asphalt concrete injected through asphalt concrete receiving hopper installed at one side of the second heating mixer before discharging the mixture.
