    • PURPOSE: To provide a rubber composition having high rolling resistance and wet-grip performance, also of good processability, comprising a specific butadiene or styrene-butadiene rubber prepared by solution polymerization.
      CONSTITUTION: The objective composition comprising a butadiene or styrene- butadiene rubber prepared by solution polymerization, or, consisting mainly of an elastomer having a glass transition temperature ≥-50°C, with ≥70wt% molecular chains crosslinked through tri-or tetrafunctional bonding agent. Said rubber component should have an intrinsic viscosity of 1.0W6.0 (pref. 1.0W4.0) (measured in the form of toluene solution at 30°C). Said bonding agent is pref. of tetrafunctional type, e.g., silicon tetrachloride or tin tetrachloride. Incorporation of less than 30pts.wt. of natural or synthetic isoprene rubber based on 100pts.wt. of the total rubber component will result in highly balanced characteristics of the composition.

    • PURPOSE: To provide titled composition of excellent wet-grip characteristics and low rolling resistance, suitable for tire tread, consisting mainly of a rubbery butadiene polymer or vinyl aromatic compound-butadiene copolymer each produced by a specific solution polymerization process.
      CONSTITUTION: The objective composition consisting mainly (pref. ≥70wt%) of a rubbery butadiene polymer or vinyl aromatic compound (pref. styrene)-butadiene copolymer produced by a solution polymerization process, with a glass transition temperature ≥-50°C, intrinsic viscosity ranging 1.7W2.5dl/g, and 40W65wt% of the polymer chain modified by tri- or tetrafunctional coupler. For retaining the processability, rolling resistance, etc. in good balance and improving the tackiness, etc., incorporation of 5W25wt% of natural and/or synthetic isoprene rubber in the composition would be recommended. Further inprovement in the tackiness will be achieved by incorporating 1W10wt% of the oligomer of an intrinsic viscosity 0.1W1.0dl/g of either said polymer or copolymer.
