摘要： A method for coating an ink jet printhead with an ink-phobic coating includes applying the coating to an outer surface of the printhead and then drawing or forcing the coating through the apertures of the printhead, preferably with a vacuum. The method coats and renders ink-phobic not only the outer surface, but also the inside surfaces of the apertures. The ink-phobic coating may contain an amorphous fluoropolymer.

摘要： A method and apparatus for eliminating undesirable development of background charge potentials in a multicolor electrostatographic system is disclosed, wherein the application of a developer bias at a given development station is selectively controlled to be substantially equal to or greater than the background image voltage of the image generated by a preceding imaging station such that the voltage differential between toner particles at the development station and the background areas including the previous image areas is substantially zero and the electrostatic forces acting on the toner particles are insufficient to attract the toner particles to the residual image. A method and apparatus is disclosed for eliminating redevelopment of previous images in a multicolor electrostatographic system, and, more particularly, an image-on-image multicolor system, wherein the imaging and development biases for each color in the printing process is systematically adjusted so as to eliminate charge potential differentials which can operate to attract toner particles to the receiving member in a subsequent image development procedure.

摘要： A method of fusing and a fusing system are provided for a fusing member having a thermally stable FKM hydrofluoroelastomer surface for fusing thermoplastic resin toners which are susceptible to amines to a substrate in an electrostatographic printing apparatus with an amino functional oil having the formula: ##STR1## where 50.ltoreq.n.ltoreq.200, p is 1 to 5 and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are selected from the group consisting of alkyl and arylalkyl radicals having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl and arylalkyl radicals having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and a polyorganosiloxane chain having 1 to 100 diorganosiloxy repeat units, and R.sub.5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and arylalkyl radicals having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, wherein at least 85% of the polyorgano amino functional siloxane chains have p equal to 1 and the ##STR2## groups are situated at random along the chain, said oil having predominantly monoamino functionality per active molecule to interact with said hydrofluoroelastomer surface to provide an interfacial barrier layer to said toner and a low surface energy film to release said toner from said surface.

摘要： A method of making a low surface energy material such as a fuser member comprising providing a shaped fluoroelastomer, preparing a solvent solution of a polyorganosiloxane having reactive functionality and the formula: ##STR1## where R is an alkyl, alkenyl or aryl group having less than 19 carbon atoms or an aryl group substituted with an alkyl or alkenyl group having less than 19 carbon atoms, the functional group A is epoxy, vinyl, acrylic, allylic or methacrylic and n is 2 to 350, contacting the fluoroelastomer with the solution to form at least a thin coating of the polyorganosiloxane on said fluoroelastomer and exposing the coated fluoroelastomer to a level of radiation to form a thin surface layer of the polyorganosiloxane grafted to said fluoroelastomer.
