The differential gear mechanism includes an output side differential gear secured to the output shaft, and a brake side differential gear rotatable with a brake plate of the electromagnetic clutch. The electromagnetic brake includes an electromagnetic coil and an electromagnetic yoke secured to the housing, so that when the brake side differential gear is prevented from rotating by the electromagnetic brake the electric motor controls displacement of the output member, and when the brake side differential gear is freely rotatable relative to the housing the output member is freely rotatable irrespective of the rotation of the electric motor.

    • A following distance measuring communication system comprising a transmitter and a receiver which are mounted on the front part of a following automotive vehicle, a time measuring unit connected to the transmitter and the receiver provided on the following automobile, and an answering transmitter-receiver unit mounted on the rear part of a preceeding vehicle. A pulse modulated signal is transmitted from the transmitter on the following vehicle, and this signal is received by the answering transmitter-receiver unit on the preceeding vehicle. At the instant that the signal is received, the answering transmitter-receiver unit on the preceeding vehicle generates a reply signal which is in turn received by the receiver on the following vehicle. The time required for this process is measured by the time measuring unit connected to the following vehicle receiver to determine the distance between the following vehicle and the preceeding vehicle.

    • A three-dimensional modeling apparatus includes a stage, a head, an adjustment mechanism, an ejection command means, and a control means. On the stage, a powder material is accumulated. The head ejects ink to the powder material on the stage. The adjustment mechanism adjusts a relative height of the stage and the head for each predetermined layer thickness so that a three-dimensional object is formed on the stage by the predetermined layer thickness. The ejection command means causes the ink to be ejected from the head so that the powder material is colored a plurality of colors corresponding to multilevel luminance information items in a multivalued image obtained by performing a multivalued processing of luminance with respect to a two-dimensional cross-sectional image data of a modeling target object. The control means controls the adjustment mechanism and the ejection command means so that the multivalued image is drawn for each layer thickness.
