    • An eye-examining apparatus comprises a first positive lens unit, a negative lens unit, a second positive lens unit, a third positive lens unit and a target mark arranged in the named order from the side of the examined eye. The third positive lens unit is mounted movably along the optical axis. Between the first and second positive lens units there is interposed on astigmatic system rotatable about the optical axis. The negative lens unit, the second positive lens unit and the third positive lens unit are so arranged as to form an image of the mark at a position near the focal point on the target mark side of the first lens unit. The focal point on the examined eye of the composite system composed of the negative lens unit, the second positive lens unit and the third positive lens unit is approximately coincident with the position conjugate with the pupil of the examined eye relative to the first positive lens unit. The diopter of the apparatus is changed by moving the third positive lens unit and the change of the axis and degree of astigmatism are achieved by rotating the astigmatism system.

    • In an apparatus for measuring the optical characteristics of an optical system to be examined a light source determines a reference optical axis and generates a light beam that is passed through the optical system to be examined along the reference optical axis. A mask partly transmits the light beam therethrough and has a pattern comprising at least one straight line disposed off the reference optical axis in the light beam, the straight line of the pattern extending in a predetermined direction in a plane substantially orthogonal to the reference optical axis. A photosensitive detector receives the light beam passed through the optical system to be examined and the mask. The detector is fixedly disposed relative to the mask and has a substantial length in a direction substantially orthogonal to the reference optical axis and the straight line of the pattern. The detector produces an electrical signal indicative of the position of the pattern of the mask projected onto the detector in the direction of the length of the detector. A rotator provides relative rotation about the reference optical axis between the light beam passed through the optical system to be examined and the mask. A signal processor processes the electrical signal and finds the refractive characteristic of the optical system to be examined. -

    • An air supplying apparatus comprises, an air intake channel, one end of which is opened to the atmosphere, the other end of which is connected to a cylinder and in which an air stream flowing toward the cylinder is provided, a throttle valve provided in the other end side portion of the air intake channel, movable between a first position where the throttle valve sets the cross-sectional area of the air stream minimum and a second position where the throttle valve sets the same maximum, thereby controlling the output power of the engine, a control valve provided in one end side portion of the first channel, movable between a third position where the control valve closes the air intake channel and a fourth position where the control valve opens the air intake channel, a control channel attached to the air intake channel to by-pass the control valve, a supercharger provided in the control channel, a link mechanism connecting the throttle valve to the control valve, to move the control valve from the fourth position to the third position when the throttle valve moves from the first position to the second position, and to move the control valve from the third position to the fourth position when the throttle valve moves from the second position to the first position, and play mechanism attached to the link mechanism, for allowing one of the throttle and control valves to move when the other valve is held at a fixed position.
