摘要： Provided is a method of producing an alumina film mainly in alpha crystal structure superior in heat resistance, wherein the alumina film mainly in alpha crystal structure is formed on a substrate, independently of the kind of the substrate at relatively low temperature, by treating the substrate surface with a ceramic powder mainly having the crystal structure same as that of alumina in the alpha crystal structure, in forming the alumina film mainly in alpha crystal structure on the substrate (including the substrate having a film previously formed thereon).

The fixing belt is entrained about the heater, the first pressure-applying member and the belt support member. The contact member, which extends in the width direction of the fixing belt, is in contact with an inner surface of the fixing belt. The temperature detector, which is disposed between the belt support member and the contact member, detects a temperature of the fixing belt through the contact member.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has a fixing unit that applies heat energy to non-fused developer on a medium. The medium is advanced in a transport path and a heater supplies heat energy to the fixing unit when the medium passes the fixing unit. When a trailing end of the medium is a predetermined distance upstream of the fixing unit, a controller operates in a first mode in which the controller causes the heater to supply a first amount of heat energy to the fixing unit. When the trailing end of the medium is within a predetermined distance upstream of the fixing unit, the controller operates in a second mode in which the controller causes the heater to supply a second amount of heat energy to the fixing unit. The second amount of heat energy is smaller than the first amount of heat energy.

摘要： The present invention provides a member coated with a hard coating and to attain excellent wear resistance. The hard coating includes: an adhesion reinforcing layer formed on a surface of the member; and a second layer formed on the adhesion reinforcing layer and having a composition represented by the following formula: (AlpTiqVr)(NuCv) where 0≦p≦0.75, 0.20≦q≦0.75, 0.10≦r≦0.75, p+q+r=1, 0.6≦u≦1, and u+v=1. In order to further enhance the adhesion of the hard coating to the member, an intermediate layer may be formed between the first and second layers.
