    • PURPOSE:To prepare the titled resin having low residual monomer content and excellent qualities, continuously, by spraying styrene to the surface of the polymerization liquid during the bulk polymerization of a styrene solution of a rubber, thereby evaporating the styrene and removing the heat of polymerization. CONSTITUTION:Rubber is dissolved in styrene in a horizontal multi-state tank 1, and prepolymerized in the first polymerizer 2 of the horizontal multi-stage tank at 100- 200 deg.C until the phase-conversion of rubber takes place and the rate of polymerization reaches about 30%. The prepolymer is polymerized in the second polymerizer 3 having a rotary shaft extended through the polymerizer and furnished with a number of disc blades, at 100-200 deg.C under reduced pressure until the rate of polymerization reaches about 60%. The final polymerizer 4 is furnished with a pair of stirring shafts 16a and 16b each having a plurality of stirring blades with a scraping blade fixed thereto. The polymerization liquid is polymerized in the final polymerizer 4 at 100-230 deg.C until the rate of polymerization at the outlet 19 reaches about 70-85%, sent to the monomer removing apparatus 5 to effect the monomer removal by rapid heating, extruded through the die head 10, and pelletized with the chip cutter. The evaporated monomer is condensed and sprayed to the surface of the polymer in the polymerizers 3 and 4 to remove the heat of polymerization with the heat of evaporation of the monomer.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a polymer having a uniform polymerization degree, by charging a definite volume of a monomer in the fine particle form after giving thereto the energy for initiating polymerization and polymerizing the monomer while removing the heat of polymerization. CONSTITUTION:A monomer 6 in a tank 5 is pressurized by a transfer pump 7, given the energy for initiating polymerization in a heater 11, fed to a nozzle 4 vibrated by an vibrator 3 oscillated by a high-frequency oscillator 2 at a constant period, and injected in the form of a monomer jet 8. The resulting definite volume of monomer particles 9 are passed through a charging electrode 14, then, a charge by a charging source 15 and an earth 16, and fed tangetially from a nozzle 10 to a cylindrical polymerization vessel 1 charged in the same sign as that of particles. Then, the monomer is polymerized at a constant temperature, while deposition is prevented by virtue of the repulsion between the vessel 1 and particles 9, both charged in the same sign, or among the particles 9 and while the heat of polymerization is removed by withdrawing the monomer vapor evaporated from the surfaces of the particles 9 from a vapor nozzle 12.
