摘要： A video signal processing method and apparatus eliminates dot crawls and cross color interferences from a component video signal that has been subjected to Y/C separation. Components at a horizontal frequency of 3.58 MHz and a temporal frequency of 15 Hz are extracted from luminance signal data using a horizontal filter and a time filter. When the absolute value of the component value is equal to or larger than a predetermined value, an output of the horizontal filter is subtracted from the luminance signal data by a subtracter, thereby eliminating dot crawls.

A recorder comprises a judgement means for judging whether the inputted digital data is recordable by the recorder or reproducible after recording; a data recording means for recording the digital data on a recording medium when the judgement means judges that the digital data is recordable; and a coding means for coding the analog signal when the judgement means judges that the digital data is unrecordable. Therefore, the data outputted from the transmitter such as a set-top box can be reliably recorded by the recorder.

摘要： A video frame is input to a spectrum analyzer, which transforms the frame from a spatial domain into a frequency domain. A resolution determiner analyzes the output of the spectrum analyzer, thereby selecting a resolution appropriate for the video frame. Then, a resolution converter converts a resolution of the video frame into the resolution selected by the resolution determiner. Thereafter, the video frame is subjected to a coding process by block divider, DCT transformer, quantizer and variable-length coder so as to be output as a coded bit stream. By coding the input video frame at a resolution corresponding to the high-frequency component in the frame, a video of higher quality can be obtained with the bit rate reduced.

摘要： According to the present invention, an image coding apparatus (103) that encodes quantized coefficients corresponding to an image signal as target data to be processed is provided with a run-length encoding unit (RLE2) that assigns variable length codes to the quantized coefficients using code tables. The run-length encoding unit (RLE2) forms a second code table by optimizing a first code table to the target data to be processed, and selects one of the first and the second code tables as a code table that is to be employed for the assignment of the variable length codes in accordance with a quantization parameter (QP) or a variable length coding selection signal (VlcSel), whereby redundancy of information included in the target data to be processed can be effectively eliminated, and the compression ratio for the image signal or the like can be further increased.

When it is judged that the scaling processing cannot be performed, the motion compensation coding unit performs motion compensation either by using another coding mode or without the scaling processing.
