    • A canister for treating fuel vapor generated in a fuel tank and for supplying fuel vapor to an intake system of an engine via a purge passage. First and second adsorbent compartments are defined in a casing by a partition for accommodating adsorbents. First and second dispersion compartments are defined in the casing for dispersing fuel vapor from the fuel tank. The first and the second dispersion compartments are located at one end of the first and second adsorbent compartments, respectively. A valve device is positioned at one side of the second adsorbent compartment for selectively opening and closing in accordance with the difference between internal and external pressures of the casing. A tank valve is connected to one side of the casing corresponding to the first adsorbent compartment for adjusting the pressure in the fuel tank. An external dispersion compartment is connected to a wall of the casing to communicate with the first dispersion compartment. A breather passage is connected to the external dispersion compartment for introducing fuel vapor into the canister from the fuel tank during refueling, and the external dispersion compartment has a cross sectional area larger than that of the breather passage.

    • A vehicular foot-operated parking brake control apparatus is designed to achieve reliable and easy operation of the apparatus while also reducing the apparatus size and the stroke loss. The apparatus includes a mounting bracket that is adapted to be fixed to a vehicle body, and a pedal that is rotatably mounted on the bracket for rotation about a rotational axis, with the pedal being connected to a parking brake control cable. The pedal is provided with a plurality of ratchet teeth and a pawl is rotatably mounted on the bracket for rotation between a first rotational position in which the pawl is engaged with the ratchet teeth and a second rotational position in which the pawl is disengaged from the ratchet teeth. The pawl is slidably mounted on the bracket to slide between a first slide position and a second slide position. The apparatus is designed to allow the parking brake to be engaged and disengaged by pressing on the pedal.

In the refractory/heat insulating panel (801), the mechanical strength and the fireproofing performance at the joint portions, which are weak portions in the panel, are increased by integrally forming inorganic boards (831) in the male and female joint portions (832, 836), filling a light-weight aggregate in the core material located at the male and female joint portions at a high density, or making the density of the core material at the joint portions higher than that at the center of the panel. Further, a nonwoven fabric is inserted between a core material (829) and a surfacing material (802) and between the core material (829) and a backing material (822), the surfaces of the surfacing material and the backing material facing the core material are embossed, a layer of isocyanurate foam and/or a layer of polyurethane foam are provided in the core material, or a wooden reinforcing material or a pipe-shaped member is buried in the core material to improve the adhesion between the core material and the surfacing material and between the core material and the backing material, the strength of the entire panel, refractory performance, etc. These structures also increase the strength and the refractory performance of the joint portions.
