摘要： A transducer arrangement for active noise cancellation signals provides an acoustically permeable membrane (38) between ports (80, 82, 85) in direct communication with the noise propagating conduit (14) and the transducers delivering sound pulses to the port. A housing defines (58) at least one chamber exposed to at least one face of a transducer diaphragm (22, 24), and each chamber is connected in fluid communication with the conduit through at least one port. The chamber is partitioned by the membrane to include chamber portions (74, 76, 78) with a predetermined volumetric relationship. In a preferred embodiment where the transducer arrangement is coupled to a motor vehicle exhaust conduit, the membrane (38) is preferably a silicone impregnated polyurethane film reinforced with aromatic polyamide fibres. Such a membrane provides a waterproof, acoustically permeable partition between the port (80, 82, 85) and any adjacent transducer (28, 30) face that can withstand high temperatures. In a two transducer arrangement, two diaphragm faces are exposed to a common chamber including two membranes positioned on opposite sides of the port (85) communicating with the chamber.

摘要： A pulse width modulated (PWM) inverter circuit is controlled by initially determining desired output currents for the inverter. For application of the present invention in a disclosed AC motor controller, the desired output currents are the AC motor currents required for desired operation of the AC motor. The desired output currents are then repetitively changed or dithered to ensure that the inverter circuit is not able to settle into zero states with their resultant lack of torque control when the inverter circuit is used to control an AC motor. Dithering is performed by algebraically combining selected current values, referred to herein as dither values, with the desired output currents to generate reference output currents which are not within a hysteresis band used to control the inverter circuit. Since the reference output currents are not within the hysteresis band, zero states are avoided. In a first embodiment, dithering is performed by adding a first current value to the desired output current reference for a first period of time; subtracting a second current value from the desired output current for a second period of time; and, alternating between the addition and subtraction steps. In a second embodiment, three steps are repetitively performed; adding a first current value (147) to the desired current (148) for a first period of time (150); adding a zero current value to the desired current (148) for a second period of time (152); and, subtracting a second current value (154) to the desired current (148) for a third period of time (156). The first and second current values (147, 154) used for dithering can be approximately equal to half the hysteresis band, or approximately equal to or greater than half the hysteresis band.

摘要： An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine, comprises a down pipe (14) for connecting an exhaust manifold of the engine to a main catalytic converter and a supplementary catalytic converter arranged in a path connected in parallel with the down pipe (14). During the opening of the valve the camshaft (16) rotates at substantially the same speed as the drive wheel (10) but during the closing of a valve, the camshaft (16) is accelerated by the valve spring to lead the drive wheel and thereby reduce the duration of the valve event. It is alternatively possible to collapse the opening phase of the valve event rather than the closing phase by reversing the operation of the coupling.

摘要： In order to measure fluid pressure in a flexible pipe (20), the pipe is squashed between two jaws (12, 14) joined by a bridge (16). The compression of the pipe between the jaws causes a strain to be set up in the bridge which can be measured by a strain gauge (28, 30) connected to the bridge.
