    • PURPOSE: A folding analog digital converter is provided to minimize power consumption by converting the current sources of an analog pre-processor to an action mode or a sleeping mode according to the comparison result of an input signal and reference voltage. CONSTITUTION: A referent voltage generating unit(20) generates a reference voltage. An analog pre-processor(30) comprises a plurality of folders which generate folded output signals comparing an analog input signal and the reference voltages. The folders comprise a plurality of folding units the analog input signal and the reference voltages. A comparison unit(40) outputs a digital signal by comparing outputs of the analog pre-processor. An encoding unit(50) changes the outputs of the comparison unit into a binary code signal.

    • A flat panel display device and a method of controlling image quality thereof are provided to adjust finely brightness by enlarging the bit number of brightness and color difference information. A flat panel display device includes a display panel, a memory(122), first, second, and third compensation units(131,132,133), and a driver. The display panel includes at least one link pixels, which are interlinked with adjacent pixels and defect and non-defect areas. The memory stores first compensation data for compensating data to be displayed in the defect area, second compensation data for compensating data to be displayed in boundary areas between the defect and non-defect areas, and third compensation data for compensating data to be displayed in the link pixels. The first compensating unit produces brightness information from red, green, and blue data including data to be displayed in the defect areas, and adjusts the data to be displayed in the defect areas by adjusting the brightness information using the first compensation data. The second compensating unit adjusts data to be displayed in the boundary areas by distributing the second compensation data in the boundary areas. The third compensating unit adjusts data to be displayed in the link pixels by using the third compensation data. The driver drives the display panel using the adjusted data by the first to third compensation data.
