摘要： Method of manufacturing a blade-shaped hair-pulling element (13) for a cutting unit (3) of a shaver. The shaver comprises a plurality of cutter elements (8) and a corresponding plurality of hair-pulling elements (13) each arranged in front of one of the cutter elements for movement therewith relative to an outer cutting member (4) and each slidable on the inner cutter element so as to be movable relative thereto for its hair-pulling action. In order to increase the distance over which the hairs are pulled up, an end portion (22) of each hair-pulling element (13) has an enlarged thickness. The hair-pulling element is obtained by means of a process of shaping the outline (stamping, etching, laser) followed by a bending process. The method to obtain the thickened end part (20) is characterized in that during the process of shaping the outline, the hair-pulling element is provided with a tab (23) which in a following bending process is bent against the end portion (22) of the hair-pulling element.

There is a clearance gap between the rotary blade and the cutting chips, the size of which is varied by movement of the tensioning means so that the cutting characteristics of the handpiece are changed in accordance with movement of the tensioning means which applies tension to the rotary blade. In one form, the tensioning means comprises a rotating spindle, a flanged member, a bearing member and a resilient means such as an O-ring located between the flanged member and bearing member.

摘要： By providing a shaving system having at least one separate and independent hair trimming assembly employed in direct association with an apertured foil or mesh screen cutting assembly in a manner enabling the hair trimming assembly to be movable into a plurality of alternate positions by a single control element for being employed simultaneously with the apertured foil cutting assemblies, a unique shaving system is achieved for cutting both short hair and long hair. Furthermore, in order to accommodate the typical variety of conditions experienced by most users of an electric dry shaving system, whether the system is being employed by men or women, it has been found that the hair trimming assemblies are preferably able to be placed in at least three alternate positions quickly and easily by the simple movement of a single button or switch. In this way, the varying contours of an individual skin surface are easily accommodated and a smooth, comfortable, close shave is realized.

To make a reliable and visually acceptable connection of the panel (4) to the wall portion (2), the panel is fixed to the wall portion by means of an induction welding process. In this way the connection is resistant to chemical compounds like lotions. Therefore a metal element (8) of electric conducting material having the shape of a closed loop wire is inserted between the wall portion (2) and the panel (4) and subsequently an electromagnetic field is applied in close proximity to the element. Preferably such panel (4) can be used to cover an opening (11) in the wall portion (2) for a display (10) and/or a switch (15) function. To make the housing watertight the element (8) between the panel (4) and the wall portion (2) should surround the opening (3,11).

By turning the mounting knob with its engagement projection inserted in the boss and thus letting the engagement projection be engaged with the engagement opening, the cutter retaining plate is mounted to the outer cutter frame of the shaver in a detachable fashion.
