摘要： A portable electronic work slate unit includes a customizable array of data devices and input/output devices which are selectively integrated in a compact and highly ergonomic structure. Increased operator productivity is accomplished by use of several possible user interface media including a multi-function display and input/output unit including a digitizer, position sensitive screen, and video display panel. Selectively integratable user interface components include a bar code scanner, RF modulator for radio frequency communication, modem, audio input/output, as well as the multi-purpose display. All components are integrated by use of a handle unit which can house a battery as well as removable modules in a manner so as to minimize operator fatigue and discomfort, as well as enhance productivity.

摘要： A method for adjusting an elevator door includes the steps of selecting an elevator door adjustment task from a task list which is provided by an elevator door controller. The elevator door controller is adapted to control the phase, voltage and torque of an elevator door motor. The controller is provided with an elevator door adjustment program which is adapted to provide a set of program prompts to a service person who inputs elevator door parameters in response to the set of program prompts. The parameters are then stored in a memory accessible to said elevator door controller the elevator door in thereafter controlled in accordance with the inputted parameters.

摘要： A hand-held workslate computer is disclosed. The workslate computer includes electronic circuitry including a microprocessor and a visual display screen electrically coupled to the microprocessor. The display screen includes a position sensitive contact portion. The workslate computer also includes a housing including a top face and a bottom face separated by a side wall and defining an interior region, the housing supporting the electronic circuitry and the visual display screen. A set of modular devices is provided, each device including interface circuitry. The housing further includes at least two modular device docking stations adapted to releasably engage a selected one of the set of modular devices. Interface circuitry is provided to electrically couple circuitry in the selected modular device and the microprocessor. The modular devices may be mounted to selected modular device docking stations to provide an ergonomically correct weight balance.

Configuration, reconfiguration and updating of work slate units by choice and selection of removable modules, from a variety of different types of modules, is enhanced by utilization of standardized interfaces which are intercoupled to a common signal bus. The bus configuration in combination with a bus controller functions as an intelligent bus capable of identifying types of removable modules and configuring communication protocols for operation with different types of removable modules.

摘要： A single instance of a device driver is used to control multiple peripheral devices in a computer system having a central processor for executing an operating system, a memory, and first and second interface buses permitting interconnection of peripheral adapters with the central processor. The interface buses each correspond to different classes of peripheral adapters. The device driver includes an initialization routine for scanning the interface buses to identify predetermined functionally related peripheral adapters. A communications path is provided between the operating system and each of the peripheral adapters of a form appropriate for the particular interface bus connected to each adapter. A control path is also provided between each of the peripheral adapters and the operating system of a form appropriate for the particular interface bus connected to each adapter. The device driver provides for the common control and management of the communications and control paths between the operating system and each of the peripheral adapters.
