    • A gas feed system for detonation gun apparatus having a recoil controlled aperture. The combustion chamber (12) is mounted within the housing of the detonation gun (2) and biased in the downstream direction by a spring (73). The combustion chamber (12) having apertures (28) communicating with the fuel and oxygen supply in the biased position. During the detonation process a portion of the detonation energy acts on a closed portion of the combustion chamber (12) to overcome the spring (73) force and slide the combustion chamber (12) in the upstream direction and thereby closing off the apertures (28) from communication with the fuel and oxygen supply. The apertures (28) allow the fuel and oxygen supply to flow into the combustion and precludes the migration of the detonation into the fuel supply by completely closing off communication between the supply and the combustion chamber (12). The recoil gas feed system increases safety, reliability and productivity of the detonation coating process.

    • A gas detonation apparatus and method for powder coating a workpiece. The present invention lies in the ability to preselect a discrete number of detonation cells and the judicious selection of a suitable barrel diameter. The present invention employs an energy bleed system positioned in the downstream end of a combustion chamber of a detonation gun to bleed off unwanted energy from the combustion chamber (12) leaving behind a discrete number of detonation cells. The detonation cells are then discharged into the barrel (13) of the detonation gun (2). The barrel (13) diameter is selected to match the total area of the discrete detonation cells selected. The effect is to discharge a discrete number of detonation cells into the barrel (13) to preclude energy loss to the detonation cells from interference with reflected energy within the barrel itself. The present invention substantially increases the productivity of the detonation coating process.

The inventive method for preparing such devices basically involves preparing at least one laminated sub-assembly comprising unslotted component layers for the purpose of consolidating such weaker layers into stronger sub-assemblies prior to a final lamination step.

    • An airbag gas generator has a housing (2) within which a solid gas generating composition (6) is located. The container has an opening (11) through which a gas formed during fuel combustion exits the container. A gas distribution cap (13) is fitted to an outlet end (10) of the housing (2), the cap (13) having a projecting lip (17) at a forward end (16) thereof. The housing (2) has a corresponding recess (12) in the outlet end (10) for accepting the lip (17) therein.
