摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a falling object speed reduction device with a high safety and a high work efficiency which surely reduces falling speed of a container by air brake in the event that the container falls down in a storage container and does not affect suspending and lowering work of the container during normal operation.SOLUTION: A falling object speed reduction device has: a storage container 11 which stores a container 10 and has a predetermined gap between the storage container 11 and the container 10 so as to provide an air brake function in the event that the container 10 falls down; and a lifting device 13 on which the container 10 is suspended via a gripper 12 in such a manner that it can be moved up and down. The device includes: a fall detector 2a provided on the lifting device 13; a cutoff member 4a which is provided on the top end of the storage container 11 and is openable/closable; and a drive control part 3a which determines whether or not the container 10 is falling down and operates the cutoff member 4a so as to close the top end of the storage container 11 in the event that it is determined that the container 10 is falling down.
