    • A surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter has a piezoelectric substrate and a conductive transducer formed over the substrate. The transducer has first and second bus bars arranged in parallel at a prescribed interval from each other, a plurality of pairs of first electrode fingers having the same lengths, and a plurality of pairs of second electrode fingers having the same lengths. The tips of the second electrode fingers are positioned opposite those of the first electrode fingers. The transducer also has first and second weighted electrode pairs positioned between two adjacent pairs of the first electrode fingers and two adjacent pairs of the second electrode fingers, respectively. Each pair of first weighted electrodes has a pair of first electrode sections whose lengths of overlap with the paired second electrode fingers are determined by the negative tap coefficients of an FIR filter having a desired low pass characteristic and a pair of second electrode sections positioned on the elongations of these first electrode sections, one end of each such second electrode section been connected to the first bus bar. The second weighted electrode pairs are similarly formed, but the lengths of overlap are determined by the positive tap coefficients of the FIR filter.

    • Provided is a structure for joining a first part (e.g., a part constituted by a cylinder head and a front cover of an automotive internal combustion engine) having a pair of first and second internal joining surfaces meeting at right angles and a second part (e.g., a part constituted by a cam bracket of the engine) having a pair of first and second external joining surfaces meeting at right angles in such a manner that the first and second internal joining surfaces are respectively joined with the first and second external joining surfaces by interposing therebetween sealant for thereby providing a seal between the first internal joining surface and the first external joining surface and between the second internal joining surface and the second external joining surface. A pair of depressions are provided to the first external joining surface. A pair of projections are provided to the first internal joining surface for insertion into the depressions and thereby positioning the second part relative to the first part. A pair of slanted guide grooves are provided to inner circumferential surfaces of the depressions for guiding insertion of the projections into the depressions, respectively. Each of the guide grooves is disposed between each of the depressions and an edge at which the first and second external joining surfaces meet, and formed so as to expand each of the depressions increasingly toward an open end of each of the depressions.

    • In a surface acoustic wave dispersive delay line of the type comprising a substrate made of piezoelectric material along which surface acoustic wave propagates, an input transducer formed on the substrate for producing the surface acoustic wave in response to an input electric signal, a first reflector including a plurality of reflection gatings formed at different spacings on the substrate for reflecting the surface acoustic wave from the input transducer, a second reflector including a plurality of reflection gratings formed at different spacings on the substrate for reflecting the surface acoustic wave reflected by the first reflector, an output transducer for converting the surface acoustic wave reflected by the second reflector into an electric signal, there is provided a device for eliminating concentration of the surface acoustic wave formed by the first and second reflectors. The concentration eliminating device comprises a coating of a conductive composition or a silicon rubber applied on a focus at which the surface wave concentrates or is formed by irradiating the focus with a laser beam.
