    • A number of potential customers for a product or service are segmented into a number of clusters organized over a number of dimensions by one or more attributes of the potential customers. Each potential customer is segmented into no more than one cluster. No data exists regarding the potential customers as to purchase of the product or service. A number of initial clusters are selected. The success factor of each of these initial clusters is determined. For the initial cluster having the highest success factor, one or more subsequent clusters are selected that are located near this initial cluster. The success factor of each of these subsequent clusters is then determined. For the subsequent cluster having the highest success factor, the potential customers segmented into this cluster are solicited as the most likely customers of the product or service in question.

    • In an embodiment managing a cache includes determining from metadata of a received service request whether a cache data response may satisfy the request as a function of recognizing a cacheable method name specification within request metadata by a service provider associated with the request, the embodiment further including determining whether the request is an inquiry or a request as a function of comparing an update frequency specification in the request metadata to a value of a time parameter associated with the cacheable method name in the metadata if the request may be satisfied by the cached data. The embodiment also includes searching the cache for the data response if determined the data is cacheable and the request is an inquiry, and sending the request on to a service provider if the data response is not a cacheable response or the request is an update request.

    • A brightness control circuit for a color display tube comprises voltage regulating means for varying a voltage between an input terminal and an output terminal thereof in dependence on an externally supplied voltage control signal are provided between cathodes of a color display tube corresponding to primary color signals and an output end of the color display tube drive circuit for supplying drive currents to the individual cathodes of the color display tube, and voltage control signal generating means connected to the voltage regulating means for supplying the voltage control or adjusting signals to the voltage regulating means. The voltage control signal generating means include two regulating means, i.e. first regulating means for changing simultaneously all the voltage control signals supplied to the voltage regulating means corresponding to the primary color signals and second regulating means for varying individually the voltage control signals for each of the color signals. Adjustment of cut-off voltage of the color display tube and adjustment of the white balance in the state of high brightness are performed by the second regulating means while the brightness of a raster scanned on the face plate is adjusted with the aid of the first regulating means.
