    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ash melting furnace which raises the discharge rate of a molten slag by permitting the molten slag consisting of a molten ash collected in a slag pool to have high flowability in its flow to a slag discharge port.
      SOLUTION: An ash melting furnace is so arranged as to transfer an ash 50 along an inclined furnace bottom 55 from an ash feed 53 at one end side of a furnace body toward a discharge port 57 at the other end side while forming an ash feed layer 59 and moving it toward the end of the furnace bottom 55, heat the surface of the ash feed layer 59 by means of a burner 52 fixed to a furnace ceiling 56 thereby forming a molten ash, forming a slag pool 10 by use of a weir 12 at the end of the furnace bottom 55 to reserve the molten ash therein, and discharge the reservoired molten slag to a lower portion of the discharge port 57 through a slag residuum outlet 11 provided at the weir 12. The slag pool 10 is formed in the form of a substantially funnel- like shape by means of guide surfaces provided at the weir 12, and thus the flow of the molten slag is naturally converged toward the slag residuum outlet 11.
