摘要： A method and apparatus for dispensing objects from automated storage and retrieval systems such as medications is disclosed which may also include a singulator to assure singulation (retrieval of singular objects). The singulator may be an imaging system to confirm and/or identify the objects being dispensed and/or a variable orifice dynamically adjustable to a specific object or pill size, and through which only a single object or pill is allowed to pass. The system may further include a flexible probe so as to reduce the size of the system where the movement of the probe relative to or while retrieving objects is accomplished by advancing/retracting a flexible tube. The method and apparatus may further include an imaging system.

摘要： Apparatus for storing and dispensing pigmented marking particles into the development mechanism of a reproduction apparatus. The storing and dispensing apparatus comprises a cartridge including a housing for storing pigmented marking particles, and an elongated opening in the housing through which such marking particles may be dispensed. A cover is removably secured to the cartridge housing to seal the housing opening to prevent contamination of the environment by escape of such marking particles through the opening. The cover, in the preferred embodiment being a flexible sheet member, is selectively removed from sealing relation with the cartridge housing opening and held adjacent to the cartridge away from exposure to the environment when the cartridge is located relative to the development mechanism, whereby marking particles may readily be dispensed into the development mechanism through the housing opening and contamination of the environment is substantially prevented.

To prevent accidental removal of the cover when the container is not in a receiving apparatus, a releasable latch is provided for holding the cover on the container. The latch is releasable by the same motion used to position the containing portion over the sump.

摘要： A method of forming a metal-thermoplastic polymer-metal laminate into a desired shape comprising the steps of: heating a metal-thermoplastic polymer-metal laminate to a temperature exceeding the melting temperature of the thermoplastic polymer; forming the heated laminate into a desired shape; and cooling the formed laminate. A method of making a cassette comprising the steps of: providing a front panel and a back panel with at least the front panel formed from a shaped metal-thermoplastic polymer-metal laminate; joining the panels so that a cavity exists between them; positioning at least one intensifying screen between the panels, the screen adapted to contact an x-ray film placed in the cassette, such that the shaped laminate panel presses the screen and film in intimate contact; wherein the metal-thermoplastic polymer-metal laminate panel is formed into a desired shape by the steps of: heating a metal-thermoplastic polymer-metal laminate to a temperature exceeding the melting temperature of the thermoplastic polymer; forming the heated laminate into a desired shape; and cooling the formed laminate.

A water pillow (80) that bursts during sterilization is provided within the fluid retaining portion (70). Alternatively, a temporary seal (86) that bursts or opens during sterilization is provided within the fluid retaining portion (70) to prevent the premature transfer of a sterilization fluid contained in the fluid retaining portion (70) to the instrument retaining portion (68).
