    • A moisture sensor which registers the amount of moisture from tear-shaped precipitation, particularly on a windshield. The device includes a beam director which is mounted on the windshield by an optical adhesive. The beam director has a beam transmitter on one side and a beam receptor on the other. This is achieved in that the circuit arrangement of the windscreen wiping system has a control stage provided with a basic setting value, which is substantially determined by the optoelectronic apparatus when the screen is optimally clean and represents the quasi static conditions of the components provided for detecting the coating present on the screen, and in that the basic setting value is stored in a non-volatile memory of the circuit arrangement and is used as the starting value for all subsequent startups of the windscreen wiping system.

    • A sensor device for measuring a physical value includes a sensor element for generating an output signal in response to measuring a physical value. A processor is operable with the sensor element for comparing the output signal to a reference signal in order to generate a primary signal indicative of the measured physical value. The processor is further operable with the sensor element for generating a secondary signal based on the output signal which is indicative of the operating condition of the sensor device. A switch or logic block is operable for receiving the primary and secondary signals from the processor. The switch and the logic block are switchable between a first state in which the primary signal is output and a second state in which the secondary signal is output.
