Provided is a gear shift system which is installed in a motorcycle having a constant mesh-type manual transmission, and which can suppress cumbersome gear shifts and manual gear shift errors. A gear shift system according to the present application is installed in a motorcycle having a constant mesh-type manual transmission that shifts gear by rotation of a shift drum, the gear shift system comprising a motor, a coupling mechanism that couples the motor and the shift drum, and a control device. When a gear shift command is received by the control device, the control device commands a change in the output of the engine, drives the motor, rotates the shift drum via the coupling mechanism, and performs a manual transmission gear shift so as to reduce the load on the dog teeth of the manual transmission.
