Two vertical hydraulic cylinders (3, 4) are arranged on an upper beam plate (2) of a press machine body (1), wherein the two hydraulic cylinders and working platforms (15, 16) in one-to-one correspondence constitute left and right side working units; a common mechanical drive unit and a common hydraulic drive unit are provided for the left and right side working units; and the mechanical drive unit is composed of an electric drive motor (13), an electromagnetic clutch (12), an electromagnetic brake (11), and a screw nut transmission mechanism driven by a gear pair. According to the load characteristics of the working process of the press machine, the mechanical drive unit or the hydraulic drive unit is selected to provide energy for the two working units. Further disclosed are a press machine control method, a press machine actuating system, and a control method for the press machine actuating system. According to the press machine, double hydraulic cylinders are provided and are in rigid connection by means of a mechanical drive unit in order to maintain synchronous movement, such that the potential energy of a moving component can be recycled, the energy loss is reduced, and the working efficiency and accuracy of the press machine is effectively improved taking the advantages of the hydraulic transmission and the mechanical transmission into consideration.
