This invention concerns a measuring device for contactless capture of the angle of rotation which consists of a rotor (22) and a stator (10). The stator (10) consists of two segments (13, 14) separated by a gap and an external housing part (11) in the form of a pot. Both segments (13, 14) and the pot-shaped housing part (11) consist of magnetically conducting material. One segment (14) is set directly upon the floor (15) of the housing part (11), so that a magnetically conductive connection arises. A layer (18) of material which is not magnetically conductive is located between the other segment (13) and the floor (15), so that no magnetic flux is possible here. The rotor is a permanent magnet (22) which is arranged so that it remains movable in an air gap between the two segments (13, 14) and the housing part (11). The direction of polarisation of this magnet (22) is radial, i.e. oriented towards or away from the segments (13, 14). The measuring element (20) is located in the slot (12) between the two segments (13, 14). Based on this embodiment it is possible to divide the magnetic flow so that a displacement of the linear measuring area is possible and thus no change in sign appears within the linear measuring area.
