The present invention is related to a method for preparing water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids, comprising the following steps: culturing a microorganism which secretes water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids in a culture medium, wherein the microorganism secretes the water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids on the culture medium; collecting the culture medium for separating a culture solution containing the water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids; adding an aggregation agent into the culture solution; and treating the culture solution by a sold liquid separation for collecting a solid state of the water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids which are formed by reacting with the aggregation agent. The present invention also is related to water-soluble compositions containing carotenoids which are acquired by the above preparation.
