In the packing material for the ion chromatography, a quaternary ammonium base expressed by the chemical formula (1) is bonded to a substrate directly or via a spacer, wherein R1represents a group having at least one olefinic double bond or conjugated double bond, and wherein each of R2and R3independently represents an organic residue same or different each other.
