The present invention provides a synthesis method of a polycarboxylic carbonate, the method comprises the step of reacting the carbon dioxide with at least one epoxide in the presence of a catalyst and a chain transfer agent of formula (I). The present invention also relates to the polycarbonate, formulations of the present invention is produced by a polymerization reaction system, and method of the present invention for copolymerizing carbon dioxide and at least one epoxide containing a catalyst and a chain transfer agent of formula (I) the block copolymers and methods for their production, including the production of polycarbonate is also provided. The invention also relates to novel catalysts of formula (III).
