The method for reducing the frequent idle handoff of a wireless communication device is described. Registration request is received by the base station or a femto access point from the wireless communication device. The number of registration request is received from the wireless communication device is counted while the registration timer is running. If the number of received registration requests is greater than the threshold value register, it is determined that frequent handoffs occur. When shown as that the number of received register request, generating frequent handoffs, the transmission power of the femto access point is adjusted.
