PURPOSE: A buoyancy device for laying a pipeline on the bottom of the sea and an operation method of a clamping device thereof are provided to reduce the time required to lay a pipeline on the bottom of the sea because the reinstallation of the buoyancy device is not required. CONSTITUTION: A buoyancy device for laying a pipeline on the bottom of the sea comprises a buoyancy member (41) and a clamping device (60). The clamping device is composed of a cylinder (61), a piston member (70), and a pressing member (80). The pressing member is connected to the piston member and presses the outer surface of a pipeline. The pressing member is movable between a position, where the outer surface of the pipeline is pressed, and a position, where the pressing is released, according to the pressure difference between a transformation chamber (64) and a static pressure chamber.
