PURPOSE: A segmentation method of safety equipment is provided to improve safety by adding various functions to the same kind of a machine. CONSTITUTION: The level of dependence between operating functions is calculated(310). A DDM method is applied to the level of dependence. The functions are sorted according to the level of dependence(320). A safety function is allocated in a segment(330). The safety function comprises a functional diversity(350).
