PURPOSE: A system and method for optimally charging an electric vehicle are provided to optimally supply charging power by detecting an amount of power consumed according to supply power and generation power in real time. CONSTITUTION: A utility power source unit(540) receives power supplied through a transmission line. A power accumulating unit(551) checks the charging state of a storage battery and outputs a charging state. A power control unit(552) controls to maintain the optimum charging state of an electric vehicle. A power consumption detecting unit(553) detects load power and power consumption. A monitoring unit(554) displays an operation state and a power state.
