A system and method for allowing a terminal to transmit a location server function outer region directed (area shape capability indication) to (location server) is provided. Therefore, the use case scenario, the location server can perform at least one of the following operations before sending the area event request to the terminal. The location server permitted by the requesting entity and may select both of the outer supported by the terminal. Alternatively, If the requested appearance (s) is not supported by the terminal, the location server can be converted by some approximation function (function approximation) to the outer contour supported in the request. In addition, the location server if the terminal is in the (allowed) requests appearance of not support none can choose to terminate the session. It must be noted that different priorities can be assigned to or associated with various outer region.
