摘要：
A touch screen hold control device of a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to control a held state of a touch screen through particular touch patterns, thereby preventing the touch screen from being unintentionally activated. A touch screen(200) is installed over an entire surface of a terminal body(100), and inputs information in a touching way. A control unit holds the touch screen or releases the held state once the touch screen is touched with set touch patterns. The touch screen is divided into plural horizontal and vertical zones(210). The touch patterns are set to pass through at least one of the zones of the touch screen as moving while consecutively touching a surface of the touch screen. A hold switch(130) is installed at the one side of the terminal body to hold the touch screen by being pressed.
