PURPOSE: A projection lens system for a rear type projection display is provided to configure the first lens group and the second lens group suitable to a rear type projection display, and to optimize a focus and an air interval, thereby reducing a depth and making a slim projection display. CONSTITUTION: A projector(22) consists of an image supply source and a projection lens system. The projection lens system comprises as follows. The second lens group(33) reflects an image supplied from the image supply source through a mirror(31), and transmits the reflected image to the first lens group. The first lens group expands an image incident by the mirror(31) through a mirror of a projection display on a screen, and projects the expanded image on the screen.
