The present invention relates to a process for upgrading the oil feedstock (102) by removing the hetero atoms and / or one or more heavy metals from an oil feedstock (102) composition. The method is to react the oil feedstock (102) and an alkali metal 108 and the hydrocarbon 106 for upgrades. An alkali metal is reacted with a portion of the hetero atoms and / or one or more heavy metals, to form an inorganic phase that can be separated from the organic oil feedstock material. For upgrading a hydrocarbon is combined to the oil feedstock (102) material, and to increase the carbon number of characters of the product. The number of carbon atoms increase in the product increases the oil feedstock (116) which generates energy.
