Embodiments of the invention relate to a method and apparatus for infrared (IR) detection. The organic layers can be used to produce a phototransistor to detect infrared light. The wavelength range of the infrared detector may be modified, including materials sensitive to photons of a different wavelength. As compared with the organic host material of the light absorbing layer transistor QD of the sensitive material to the photons of different wavelengths it may be included in the absorbent layer, which may improve the absorption of photons with an associated wavelength and of the quantum dot material. The photoconductor structure can be used in place of the phototransistor. The photoconductor may comprise a PbS or PbSe quantum dots. The photoconductor may comprise a portion of the organic materials and OLED structure. The infrared image detection can be displayed to the user. Organic materials can be used to produce an organic light emitting device.
