PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an apparatus having good response to operation even when the special reproducing operation is overlapped on the part including a relief information and when the special reproducing operation is repeated frequently by providing a means for re-editing the information recorded in division to a plurality of optical discs as the continuous compression information. SOLUTION: A compressed information to be re-edited is selected using an operating section 4 and a display section 5 and re-edition is instructed by setting a re-edition switch 20. MPU 3 checks, with the DIR information, the dividing condition of the compressed information and does not execute the re-edition if the compressed information is not divided. When the information is recorded in division in a plurality of optical discs, the re-edition process is started. MPU 3 controls DIR and FAT of all optical discs to easily judge a size of the vacant area of the optical disc 6-1 and the amount of compressed information divided in the optical disc 6-2. As the result, adequacy of re-edition can be judged only with the vacant area of the optical disc 6-1.
