PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy saving performance without extending FPOT.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming part A for forming an image on a recording material; and a fixing part B having a rotatable and cylindrical fixing member 20, a heating body 16 for heating the fixing member, and a rotatable pressure member 22 for forming a nip part N together with the fixing member, and heating a recording material P having an image T formed thereon and conveyed by the nip part to fix an image to the recording material. The image forming apparatus supplies electric power to the heating body in a print-standby state, and executes fixing standby control mode for controlling the fixing member to be on standby at a predetermined control temperature. In the fixing standby control mode, the control temperature of the heating body is set to be lower when power consumption of the heating body in the fixing standby control mode is small than when it is large.
