PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component composed of ZnSe which can be produced at low cost, and in which residual strains due to internal stress are removed without increasing the surface roughness.SOLUTION: An optical component is obtained by a production method including a first step to synthesize a ZnSe polycrystal, a second step to obtain a molded article by press molding of the ZnSe polycrystal, and a third step to heat the molded article and ZnSe powder while bringing them into contact with each other.
