PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat storage system capable of utilizing solar heat more efficiently than the prior art in consideration of a variation of solar heat calory.SOLUTION: There is provided a heat storage system 1 for storing solar heat that comprises: a heat medium for absorbing solar heat; a phase change medium 10a6 heat-exchanged with the heat medium; and first heat storage tanks (stratification tanks 10a to 10c) carrying the phase change medium 10a6 and flowing the heat medium. A plurality of first heat storage tanks (stratification tanks 10a to 10c) are arranged. When solar heat is stored, the first heat storage tanks (stratification tanks 10a to 10c) are connected in series to flow the heat medium. When the stored solar heat is to be utilized, the first heat storage tanks (stratification tanks 10a to 10c) are connected in parallel to cause the heat medium to be flowed.
