PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shift operation device of a vehicle which selects one of a plurality of gear shift ranges, additionally expresses a continuous operation intention of a driver in a specified gear shift range, and performs control according to the continuous operation intention of the driver.SOLUTION: The gear shift operation device comprises: a main shaft; a gear shift lever provided so that sliding and rotation along the main shaft are possible; a gate plate stipulating a moving passage of the gear shift lever so that the gear shift lever is reciprocally movable on a single passage and including a gate pattern in which a plurality of ranges are arranged on the moving passage. The gate pattern is formed so that the remaining gear shift ranges except the specified one gear shift range and the specified one gear shift range are mutually partitioned. In the specified one gear shift range, the gear shift lever is set to continuously displace in relation to the gate plate.
