How to apply the cyclopropene derivatives and compositions thereof are disclosed to inhibit ethylene receptor in plants and plant materials. The method, the plant includes the step of applying an effective ethylene response-inhibiting amount of at least one cyclopropene amine compound or a composition. Cyclopropene amine compounds, their enantiomers, stereoisomers or salt are also provided.
