PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polarizer the optical properties of which are hardly deteriorated in a high-temperature environment.
SOLUTION: The method for producing the polarizer includes: a step A of stretching a hydrophilic polymer resin layer, which contains at least one compound selected from urea and thiourea, toward at least one direction in a gas to obtain a stretched resin layer; and a step B of dyeing the stretched resin layer by a dichroic substance.
