PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head gimbal assembly which prevents disconnection of a flying lead, reduces spacing, prevents electrostatic damages on the head, and improves reliability, and also provide a disk drive provided with the same.
SOLUTION: The head gimbal assembly includes: an arm, a suspension extending from the arm, a head supported by the suspension, and a wiring trace 40 provided on the arm and suspension with its one end electrically connected to the head and the other end having a connecting section 60. The wiring trace includes: a base insulating layer 62, a conductor pattern 64 formed on the base insulating layer and having a number of connection terminals 65, and a cover insulating layer 66 formed to cover the conductor pattern on the base insulating layer. At the connecting section, the connection terminals are exposed in the opening 68 formed on the base insulating layer and cover insulating layer, and a protection insulating layer 70 and metal sheets 72 are overlaid on the one surface of the connection terminals.
