PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial composition of an anticlostridium tetani agent, an antifungal agent, an antiviral agent and the like. SOLUTION: The antimicrobial agent contains a Sasa extract as an effective component of which the content as a solid is 1-50 mass%, preferably 2-25 mass% and more preferably 4-15 mass%. The antimicrobial agent has a marked antimicrobial effect on anaerobolic bacteria such as Clostridium tetani except bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, propionibacterium containing Propionibacterium acnes, molds such as candida and also viruses such as a herpes virus, an influenza virus and a coronavirus.
