PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission display comprising a gate electrode plate of strut structure requiring no support for a negative electrode plate, a positive electrode plate and a gate electrode plate by struts of more than necessary at jointing process, with simplified manufacturing process of the field emission, capable of increasing productivity.
SOLUTION: A first board having a first electrode and a plurality of emission projection arrays formed on its first surface and a second board having a second electrode and a plurality of fluorescent layers formed on its second surface are arranged so that the second surface corresponds to the first surface, and a gate electrode plate of strut structure is arranged at a position keeping a certain fixed distance between the first board and the second board, and the gate electrode plate of strut structure comprises a plurality of gate electrodes and holes. Thus, when a potential difference is generated between the first electrode and the second electrode, electrons pass through the gate electrodes of the gate electrode plate, are accelerated, pass through the holes, and collide against the fluorescent layers.
