Electro-optical structure, an aqueous emulsion or solvent-based sensor material, preferably constituted by spin-coating onto a substrate under the conditions of the solvent-polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (PDLC), controlled solvent evaporation. In certain processes, the uniformity of the PDLC coating, (1) spin-coating in a semi-enclosed chamber, (2) "conversion" to a circular substrate of a rectangular substrate by using a fixture (3) substrate and the spin forming a controllable spacing between the coater top cover, it is accomplished by (4) controllable evaporation rate.
