PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve excellent combustion in an internal combustion engine by promoting the mixture of fuel and air by a simple constitution.
SOLUTION: An intake port 16 and an exhaust port 17 both communicated with a combustion chamber 15 are freely opened and closed by an intake valve 18 and an exhaust valve 19. By inclining the intake port 16 in a horizontal direction, air is made to flow swirlingly and can be introduced in the combustion chamber 15 and fuel can be injected toward a position below the intake valve 18 in the combustion chamber 15 from a fuel injection valve 20. An ignition plug is situated in the given position of the combustion chamber 15.
