PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the load to be imposed on a bottle washing machine by removing foreign matter easily from a bottle by making good use of the movement of the bottle to be hung/conveyed and supplying the foreign matter-removed bottle to the bottle washing machine.
SOLUTION: The foreign matter stuck to the outside surface of the bottle 3 is removed by using brushes 5, 6 which are positioned respectively at both sides of the bottle 3 to be hung/conveyed in a row and each of which is provided with erect bristles 4 each having the tip to be extended almost to the central part of the opposed bottle 3 and rubbing the brushes 5, 6 against the bottle 3 by making good use of the movement of the bottle 3 to be hung/conveyed and the relative movement between the bottle 3 and the brushes 5, 6.
