PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystalline compound having necessary general physical properties such as a low viscosity, suitable optical anisotropy, suitable dielectric anisotropy and excellent compatibility with other liquid crystalline compounds, a liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal-displaying element. SOLUTION: This liquid crystalline compound expressed by formula (1) [wherein, R a , R b are independently each e.g. an alkyl; ring A 1 to A 6 are independently each e.g. 1,4-cyclohexylene; Z 11 to Z 16 are independently each e.g. a single bond or an alkylene; Y 1 , Y 2 are independently each e.g. H or a halogen, and Y 1 , Y 2 are not simultaneously H; (k), (l), (m), (n), (p) and (q) are independently each 0 or 1 and the sum of the (k), (l), (m), (n), (p) and (q) is 1, 2 or 3], the liquid crystal composition containing the same and the liquid crystal-displaying element containing the composition are provided.
